Street trees
We are planting or replacing nature strip trees across the shire in coming months and years, and will soon be inviting select property owners to tell us whether they would like one planted outside their property.
Well-chosen trees play an important role in any town, are critical in maintaining the health and liveability of our townships and create a long-term sustainable vision for the character and amenity of every community.

May Park Drive was chosen for this project following several requests from property owners for full street tree planting to occur.
We are informing property owners what species Council intends to plant on their nature strip as part of this project. The streetscape has been designed by Council’s Arborist, Parks & Gardens Coordinator and Open Space Planner.

Moroney Street, Dawson St to Mckean St, Bairnsdale Streetscape Planting
East Gippsland Shire Council is planting and replacing trees each year across the municipality.
The species of trees chosen is based on:
• Site conditions including utilities (power, water, gas etc.), soil profile and space available
• Existing vegetation in the locality
• Future-proofing for expected climate changes
• Minimising ongoing maintenance requirements for Council
• Stock Availability
Moroney Street was chosen for this project to compliment the Urban Street Improvements completed recently.
